Power Pack Program
Many students who receive free or reduced school meals are left without adequate nutrition on weekends & holidays ... a $150 donation provides a weekly Power Pack for an ENTIRE school year!
A Power Pack offers ready-to-eat, nutritious snacks to students who are identified as chronically hungry within Marana district schools. Power Packs ensure children have access to food during weekends and school breaks; resulting in fewer stomach aches and greater ability to learn. Would you please consider making a donation? Donations of any amount can make a difference in the life of a child.
Ensuring Students Don’t Go Hungry on Weekends
Did you know that many students who receive free or reduced meals at school are left without adequate nutrition and are chronically hungry on the weekend and during holiday breaks? As a result, many students come to school hungry, contributing to their distraction and inability to focus on learning.
The Marana Unified School District Power Pack Program provides needed food to our chronically hungry students who would otherwise not have adequate access to food during the weekends or school breaks.
Each Friday, during the school year, the District sends Power Packs home with chronically hungry students to ensure they have adequate food to eat on weekends and school breaks. The Power Pack is distributed confidentially to those students who have been identified by school staff at the following schools: Picture Rocks Elementary, Estes Elementary, Roadrunner Elementary, and Gladden Farms Elementary.
Power Packs consist of nutritious, ready-to-eat, nonperishable food items.
Studies have shown that students in the program are sick less often, have fewer stomach aches, and are more eager and ready to learn. Student learning and attendance also improves dramatically.
For a contribution of $150.00, one student will receive a weekly Power Pack the entire school year.
Through the Power Pack Program, the Marana Unified School District provides approximately 200 packs per year. The District is only able to provide this support through the generosity of community members. Will you please consider making a contribution? Donations of any amount are appreciated and will help change the life of a child.
Your Support Changes Lives
Since 2009, the Power Pack Program has continued to feed hungry students through the generosity of community members, local businesses, churches, clubs, yearly TRICO POWER grants, and collaboration with MUSD’s Food Services Department.
One of the many benefits of the Power Pack Program is that it is a cooperative collaboration of school, community, and families. It brings an awareness to the problems of hunger and models how a community can work together to help its families in their time of need.
Donations of any amount will make a difference in the life of a student. If you are interested in sponsoring a chronically hungry student or making a donation of any denomination, donation forms can be obtained and/or dropped off or mailed to any school.
Thank you for being a Power Pack Superhero!
